Composite Fiber for Absorptive Material Construction
Overview
This invention teaches an absorbent fiber that holds water and retards odor.   The fiber can be woven using traditional weaving machines. The resultant product can hold significant amounts of fluid and not leak or release odors.   Extended products for adult incontinence, such as a throwaway vest which allows far greater length of time between changes, as well as greater life and odor reduction, are enabled with the invention. The patent received broad claims for a fiber which has a hydrophilic (absorbent) inner core and a hydrophobic (water resistant) outer surface which keeps the liquid and odors contained. The outer surface can be woven, formed, or produced by other means.
